City of Centralia Industrial Commission met Jan. 16.

Here is the minutes provided by the commission:

Chair Ty Orr called the meeting to order at 12 p.m.

Members Present: Bo Baer, Jerry Beguelin, Dick Cary, Travis Etheridge, Bob Feig, Jack Mann, Ty Orr, Bill Sprehe, and Acting City Manager, Bill Agee

Members Absent: Dave Agee, Jim Rueter, and Mayor Herb Williams Also Present: Rose Aldag-McVey – City of Centralia Economic Development Director, Marcy Jones - representing Best Western Plus Hotel, Subway restaurants, and Rosati’s Pizza, Pat Hodges - Reporter, WJBD radio, and Steven Stilt – Reporter, Centralia Sentinel

Public Comment: None

Approval of Minutes: Carey moved and Beguelin second a motion for approval of the minutes from August 15, 2019, and October 17, 2019; there were no meetings in September, November or December 2019. With all in favor the motion passed.

Ongoing Business: The consensus was that the Annual Business Appreciation Reception was well received, was well attended and is an excellent method to demonstrate appreciation to local business owners. Bo Baer gave an update on the Marion County CEO program which will start in August with 15-20 high school seniors from throughout Marion County participating. 35 investors are supporting this program to develop the local workforce.

New Business: Aldag-McVey introduced Marcy Jones who works for SRW Management which locally includes Best Western Plus Hotel, two Subway restaurants, and Rosati’s Pizza. Jones gave updates for each of the entities, supplied employment information, and plans for the new Rosati’s restaurant. SRW employs over 400 individuals at their multiple ventures which include 26 Subway restaurants. Their headquarters are in Effingham.

Discussion: Maps showing the planned 2020 and 2021 road updates were distributed.

Feig moved and Cary second a motion to adjourn. With all in favor, the meeting adjourned.
