The city of Centralia has issued more than $995,400 in building permits during May, WJBD reported, but one permit to MC Power was responsible for most of the construction.

MC Power was issued a permit costing $868,153, the majority of the $995,403, WJBD reported on June 2. The permit is for the construction of a solar array at Centralia Junior High School, which will generate electricity for the school. The project will also sell any unused power to Ameren.

To pay for this project, a $1 million grant was awarded to the Centralia City Grade School, WJBD reported. Besides the permit for the middle school, 19 different permits were issued in May.

Amy Moghadam was issued a permit for a mobile home on D'Ann Drive and Karen Eller, with Clarida Drive, received a $26,000 permit to add additions to her home, WJBD reported. Other permits issued during May were for fences, pools and outbuildings. There were also permits for home demolitions.
