Illinois State House District 97 issued the following announcement.

State Representative Mark Batinick (R-Plainfield) is partnering with the Illinois State Police to host a free Prescription Drop Off event. The event will be held on Tuesday, August 25, at the Plainfield Fire Department, 23748 w. 135th Street, from 9:00-11:00am.

Rep. Batinick’s event will utilize a drive-thru style system to ensure the health and safety of residents. Attendees are asked to remain in their vehicles, drive through, and hand off their items. Medicines including prescription ointments and patches, pet medications, and vitamins will all be accepted. Needles and any illegal drugs are not permitted. The Illinois State Police will be on hand to ensure the proper protocols for disposal are followed.

“Now is the time to clean out your medicine cabinet and get rid of items that are expired or unused,” said Rep. Batinick. “This event is a great opportunity to easily dispose of medicine safely and responsibly, and I am happy to provide this event to area residents.”

The Prescription Drop Off is free and open to the public. With questions, constituents can contact Rep. Batinick’s district office at (815) 254-0000..
