Taylorville FD responds to 78 fires in 2018

Taylorville Fire District responded to 148 calls in 2018 - 8.1 percent less than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Taylorville included 78 fires - 28 structure fires, 10 vehicle fires and 40 other fires. The fire department also responded to three calls for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $587,550 in fire loss - or about $7,533 per fire.

The department also received 67 false calls.

The calls resulted in two civilian fire-related injuries. Additionally, two fire service members were injured in fire-related incidents and one was injured in non fire-related incidents.

The Taylorville Fire District had an annual budget of $26,590 in 2018.

The Taylorville Firefighters Pension Fund, which has 15 active employees and 13 retired or inactive employees, was $58,477 positive as of April 2017, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $665 for every fire in 2017.
