Illinois State Senate District 58 issued the following announcement on Nov. 11.
The following statement can be attributed to State Senator Paul Schimpf (R-Waterloo) regarding the cancellation of the fall veto session:
“I’m disappointed but not surprised that the fall veto session has been cancelled. This cancellation prevents us from holding public hearings on the Governor’s unilateral coronavirus response plan, meaning that the legislature will continue to have no voice or role in one of the biggest issues the state has ever faced. While leadership publicly says that the danger is too great for lawmakers to go to work, the Joint Committee on Administrative Rules (JCAR) has safely met throughout the pandemic at the Capitol.”
