Village of Vernon Hills Committee of the Whole Met September 15

Village of Vernon Hills Committee of the Whole met Sept. 15.

Here is the minutes provided by the committee:

Village President Byrne called the meeting to order at 9:08 PM.

IN ATTENDANCE: President Byrne, Trustees Takaoka, Oppenheim, Schultz, and Koch. Trustee Marquardt was absent. A quorum was established.

Also present were: Village Manager Fleischhauer, Assistant Village Manager Petrillo, Chief Kreis, Community Development Director Atkinson, Public Works Director Brown, Finance Director Fairbairn, Village Attorney Ferolo, Village Attorney Forte, and Recording Secretary Koehl.

1. APPROVAL OF THE COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE MEETING MINUTES OF SEPTEMBER 1, 2020

Motion by Trustee Schultz second by Trustee Takaoka to approve Committee of the Whole Minutes for the September 1, 2020 meeting.

Roll call vote:

A YES: 4 - Koch, Takaoka, Oppenheim, Schultz

NAYS: 0-None

ABSENT AND NOT VOTING: 0 - Marquardt

ABSTAIN: 1 -Byrne

Motion carried.

2. ORCHARD EVANGELICAL FREE CHURCH - PRESENTATION OF CONCEPT PLANS FOR A PROPOSED HOUSE OF WORSHIP LOCATED AT 870 WEST END COURT

Representatives from Orchard Evangelical Free Church gave presentation of the proposed concept plans, and gave a summary of their organization. There was a consensus of the Board to direct them to move forward in the process.

The current property owner John Sexton, gave a summary about current vacancy conditions for the property. He stated he has tried, but was having difficulty in leasing it currently and this new concept would be good for all involved. He asked the Board if they are supportive of this concept and was reassured by members of the Board that they support it.

2. ADJOURNMENT

Motion by Trustee Oppenheim second by Trustee Takaoka to adjourn the Committee of the Whole meeting.

Voice Vote:

All in Favor.

Motion carried.

Meeting adjourned at 9:27 PM.
