HSHS St. Joseph's Hospital Breese issued the following announcement on Nov. 23.

HSHS St. Joseph’s Foundation has joined the global Giving Tuesday effort and asks the community to consider donating to HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital Breese on this special day of giving.

“For more than 100 years, it has been the generosity of the community that has provided the fuel for the healing Mission of St. Joseph’s Hospital,” said Emily Wilson, gifts officer of HSHS St. Joseph’s Foundation. “During this season of giving, we ask you to consider making a donation to St. Joseph’s Hospital. Each gift, regardless of size, directly impacts the availability and quality of health care for families, friends and neighbors in Clinton County and surrounding areas – and we greatly appreciate your support.”

Giving Tuesday represents a global day dedicated to giving back. On the Tuesday after Thanksgiving (December 1, 2020), charities, families, businesses, community centers and students around the world come together to celebrate generosity and helping others. Giving Tuesday is held annually after the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday to kick off the holiday giving season and inspire people to collaborate to improve their local communities and give back in impactful ways to charities and other causes they support.

Financial contributions are vital to the healing ministry of St. Joseph’s Hospital. The HSHS St. Joseph’s Foundation was established to advance the Mission of the hospital to provide health care to all and carry the hospital’s values and traditions for future generations.

As a nonprofit hospital, HSHS St. Joseph’s relies on contributions to provide and enhance local health care services. This year alone, St. Joseph’s Foundation has already provided over $330,000 to the hospital for investments in equipment. Those donated funds allow the hospital to purchase the following:

Clinical and Surgical Urology Equipment to support the return of urology services.

Electric High-Low Exam Tables for the Prairie Cardiovascular suite in the Specialty Clinic.

Mini C-Arm Mobile Fluoroscope, which is an imaging device used by surgeons as they operate, offering less radiation and maximizing efficiency and safety.

Bladder Scanner, used in multiple areas of the hospital to measure a patient’s fluid retention.

Lab Centrifuge, a new piece of essential equipment which replaces an older model centrifuge within the hospital laboratory. This updated technology not only ensures diagnostic accuracy through effective laboratory testing but also expands in-house testing capabilities.
