First Vandalia Corporation recently donated $100,000 toward the $1.38 million fund-raising match being raised by the Evans Public Library District of Vandalia to obtain a $3.4 million grant from the Illinois Public Library Construction Act Program.

First Vandalia Corporation is the parent company of The FNB Community Bank, Vandalia Radio reported in January. The donation also gives the company naming rights to the new library's community room.

According to Vandalia Radio, the matching grant will cover approximately 70% of the construction cost for a new, 15,752-square-foot library on Randolph Street. The new construction's remaining cost will be covered by the community match being raised by the library district.

The community has until June of this year to finish raising the needed funds for the match.

"I am excited to see that all of the hard work the board has put into developing plans for a new library for the last 10 years come to fruition," Jessica Blain, library director, said, Vandalia Radio reported. "The new building will be an asset for our community."
