Pana Community Hospital issued the following announcement on Jan. 21.
Pana Community Hospital reports that it has completed Phase 1A of the State of Illinois COVID-19 Vaccination Plan. At this time, employees at Pana Community Hospital, Quad County, Community Medical Clinic and Pana Medical Group that wanted to receive the vaccine have either had the first or first and second doses of the vaccine. It is now time to move onto Phase 1B which includes people 65 and over and frontline essential workers. Included in the definition of essential workers are teachers, first responders, police, fire, postal, manufacturing, day care staff, grocery store staff, correctional workers and inmates, and many other groups. Pana Community Hospital has applied with IDPH to become a vaccination site for those in Phase 1B and beyond. If Pana Community Hospital is approved, we will release specific information about how and when the hospital will be able to vaccinate our patients and members of the public. At this time, PCH does not know when or if our application will be approved. The hospital is doing everything possible to aide in vaccinating those members of our community that wish to receive the vaccine and will keep the public posted through the news media and social networks such as the PCH Facebook page and website at www.panahospital.com. In the meantime, Pana Community Hospital asks for your patience as we wait to hear back from IDPH on the progress of our application. While members of our community become vaccinated and build immunity, it is vital that our community continue to take safety precautions to prevent additional infections and possible deaths. Wearing a mask, practice social distancing, avoiding large crowds and proper hand hygiene are proven methods to reduce virus transmission and can save lives.
