Q3 2020 Recap: 2 parolees from Bond County convicted of sex crimes set for release

There were two offenders convicted of sex crimes released on parole in Bond County during the third quarter of 2020, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the South Central Reporter.

The data shows that both of the released offenders among the parolees were men. The median age of the parolees sentenced for sex crimes was 50. The younger parolee was a 40-year-old man sentenced in 2017, and the oldest was a 59-year-old man sentenced in 2017.

The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was Daniel Haberer. He was convicted in 2017 when he was 37 years old. He is now 40.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
