State Sen. Jason Plummer (R-Edwardsville) was recently recognized as the 2020 Lumberman of the Year.
On an annual basis, the Illinois Lumber and Material Dealers Association (ILMDA) distinguishes persons in the Illinois retail lumber industry who demonstrated exemplary commitment to serving the independent lumber dealers of Illinois. The recipient is selected through nominations and elections.
Plummer wrote on Facebook that he is “very honored and humbled to receive the ILMDA's 'Lumberman of the Year' award.” Knowing that the “industry is made up of great people - salt of the earth. It makes it extra special and very meaningful that the award is a peer-recognition award with a nomination and election process conducted by my peers throughout the industry,” he said.
The senator is the vice-president of R.P. Lumber, a building materials supplier and full-service retail home center with more than 70 locations throughout Illinois, Missouri, Iowa, and Wyoming.
At present, he is the ILMDA’s vice-president and will serve a two-year term as its president starting next year. He has also served on the ILMDA Board of Directors for more than 10 years.
Robert Plummer, the senator’s father, earned the same recognition in 2013, making Jason Plummer the second in his family to receive the Lumberman of the Year award.
