State Rep. C.D. Davidsmeyer (R-Jacksonville) recently gave recognition to the newest and littlest addition to the Davidsmeyer team, the newborn baby girl of his secretary, Jennifer Anderson.

Anderson has worked for the representative since at least 2016.

"I bring some very positive news," Davidsmeyer recently said on the House floor. "My secretary over in the Stratton building just had her daughter, a little baby girl, nine pounds and five ounces."

Davidsmeyer called for a round of applause for the "healthy new Illinoisan."

Davidsmeyer has recently been vocal on the need for bipartisanship in working on the budget. In March, Metro East Sun reported that the representative called on his colleagues to focus on "transparency and the opportunity to work together."

The representative said that Gov. Pritzker worked with Republicans in 2019 with some positive results, but that synchrony was short-lived.

"Back in May of 2020, the Democrats passed a horribly unbalanced bill based on the hope that Gov. Pritzker’s progressive tax would pass," Davidsmeyer said in the article. "We all know the reality, over half of Illinoisans turned that down."

Last week, Davidsmeyer shared his frustration with the state's Firearm Owners Identification (FOID) card backlog. In a May 21 Metro East Sun article, Davidsmeyer said he hears from frustrated citizens on a near-daily basis on this issue.

“I have constituents that I've helped get a FOID card that have been waiting for 13 months,” he said. “It is absolutely crazy."

The representative is a Jacksonville native who obtained his bachelor's degree in political science from Miami University of Ohio

Davidsmeyer was a Jacksonville City Council member from 2008 through 2012, where he chaired the public protection and finance committees. He also served as a Chamber of Commerce officer and was involved with the Rotary and Library Board.
