Q4 2020 Recap: 8 parolees from Marion County convicted of drug crimes set for release

There were eight offenders convicted of drug crimes released on parole in Marion County during the fourth quarter of 2020, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the South Central Reporter.

The data shows that seven men and one woman were among the parolees. The median age of the parolees sentenced for drug crimes was 37. The youngest parolee was a 26-year-old man sentenced in 2019, and the oldest was a 53-year-old man sentenced in 2018.

The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was Wallace H. Kaufman. He was convicted in 2018 when he was 50 years old. He is now 53.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.

The following table shows how many offenders convicted of drug crimes were paroled during the fourth quarter of 2020 in each Illinois county.
