The Board of Education of Wesclin Community School District # 3, Clinton and St. Clair Counties, Illinois, met in a regular session at the hour of 6:00 p.m., at the Wesclin High School in said district.

Minutes of the previous regular meeting and of the executive session of April 19, 2021 and the special session of May 4, 2021 were approved on a motion by Tina Litteken seconded by Paul Josias.

E. Superintendent Report
Committees – Board members will let Aaron know which committee they will be on.
Covid-19
ISBE/IDPH have not offered any new guidance. We are in the bridge phase with 35% capacity for graduation. The capacity could go up to 65%. At the moment each student will get 6 tickets for attendance at graduation. Masks are mandatory.
We will present handbooks at the June meeting, hoping to be able to include the COVID guidelines that need to be implemented.
Retreat
Looking to have the retreat this summer.
2021-2022 Class Sizes
TE Class Sizes: K-43, 1st-49, 2nd-37, 3rd-53, 4th-46
NB Class Sizes: K-61, 1st-60, 2nd-55, 3rd-52, 4th-52
Learning loss noticed with 3rd and 4th grade students. We need to keep class sizes small and looking to hire 3 new teachers for next school year. We will be using COVID Relief funds to pay for this.
F. Principals’ Report
WHS – Band and Choir had their concerts and it was good to have them in person! Our All Conference students are as follows: Basketball-Grant Fridley and Luke Serano, Football-Connor Bridick, Payten Mugele, Josh Serrano, Cam Brandmeyer, Josh Serrano, Soccer-Christian Gonzalez, Carson Spalding, Justin Weihe and Volleyball-Emily Ottensmeier. Seniors last day is Tuesday. Academic Awards will be on Wednesday and Senior Breakfast and graduation practice will be Friday. Graduation is Sunday at 2.
WMS – Held the Academic Awards ceremonies last week. Top winners are 8th graders will have a special day on Friday.
NB – PTO is providing lunch to staff from Red Porch on Friday. Want to thank all teachers and staff for organizing our field day.
TE – End of year activities are still going on, with some new changes that some actually like! PTG sponsored a Red Porch lunch also. We are working on our end of year party.
Special Services – Wrapping up all end of year meetings.

A. The Middle School Academic Award Winners will be announced at the meeting.

E. Thank you to Megan Kehrer and Jean Heier for organizing Be the Yellow! Day at Trenton Elementary ... a day to spread kindness and positivity!
F. Thanks to Katrina Hanke, Cathy Powers and Katie Wilke for assisting our students through this stressful and sometimes anxiety-filled school year.
G. Thanks to Shari Tockstein for organizing and all who participated for a very successful Virtual Book Fair. We sold $1,656.00 of books and received $440.00 of profit in Scholastic Dollars.
H. Dawn Musenbrock and Deanna Clossen for unbelievable PE activities that kept the kids safe and engaged!
