City of Greenville City Council met Aug. 26.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

Call to Order: A special meeting of the Greenville City Council was called to order at 8:00 p.m. by Mayor George Barber.

Roll Call: Present: Mayor George Barber, Councilman Bill Carpenter, Councilman Iván Estévez, Councilman Kyle Littlefield, and Councilwoman Lisa Stephens.

Also Present: City Manager Dave Willey and City Clerk Sue Ann Nelson

Pledge: The pledge of allegiance to the United States flag was recited.

Notice of Meeting: Notice of the special meeting having been given as provided by law, said meeting was called for consideration of the following agenda:

1) Roll Call

2) Pledge of Allegiance

3) Public Comment

4) Review Employment of City Personnel with Possible Action on City Employees

5) Approve Purchase of Police Vehicle

6) Executive Session: Purchase of Real Estate, Section 2 (c)(5); Sale of Real Estate, Section 2 (c)(6); Personnel, Section 2 (c)(1-2); and Pending Litigation, Section 2 (c)(11); of the Open Meetings Act

Public Comment: With no comments being expressed, public input was closed.

Purchase of Police Vehicle: State bid for Ford Explorer Interceptor from state bid from Morrow Brothers Ford for $35,580. Vehicles are on order and action is needed to secure one for October-November delivery. Motion by Stephens, seconded by Littlefield, to approve purchase of 2021 Ford Explorer Interceptor from Morrow Brothers Ford for $35,580.

Ayes: Stephens, Littlefield, Carpenter, Estévez, Barber

Nays: None

Motion carried

Adjourn to Closed Session: At 8:03 p.m., moved by Carpenter, seconded by Littlefield, to adjourn to closed session.

Ayes: Carpenter, Littlefield, Estévez, Stephens, Barber

Nays: None

Motion carried

Reconvene Open Session: City Council reconvened at 8:40 p.m. with Mayor Barber, Councilmembers Carpenter, Estévez, Littlefield, and Stevens, and City Clerk Nelson present.

Retirement Letter and Approval of Retirement Agreement: Mayor Barber read aloud a retirement letter from City Manager Willey. Motion by Barber, seconded by Carpenter, to accept retirement letter and approve Retirement Agreement.

Ayes: Barber, Carpenter, Estévez, Littlefield, Stephens

Nays: None

Motion carried

Adjourn to Closed Session:

At 8:42 p.m., moved by Littlefield, seconded by Estévez, to adjourn to closed session.

Ayes: Littlefield, Estévez, Carpenter, Stephens, Barber

Nays: None

Motion carried

Reconvene Open Session: City Council reconvened at 11:08 p.m. with Mayor Barber, Councilmembers Carpenter, Estévez, Littlefield, Stephens, and City Clerk Nelson present.

Interim City Manager: Motion by Barber, seconded by Stephens, to name City Clerk and Finance Director Sue Ann Nelson as Interim City Manager.

Ayes: Barber, Stephens, Carpenter, Estévez, Littlefield

Nays: None

Motion carried

Mayor Barber announced that the council would immediately begin searching for a new city manager.

Adjourn: At 11:09 p.m., moved by Stephens, seconded by Littlefield, to adjourn.

Ayes: Stephens, Littlefield, Carpenter, Estévez, Barber

Nays: None

Motion carried
