City of Centralia Tourism Commission met Aug. 11.

III. PUBLIC PARTICIPATION – Welcome to Karen Walsh!
IV. TROLLEY UTILIZATION DURING EVENTS
1. Derek stated there was an interested party in renting the trolley during Balloon Fest. The Commission recommended to rent it during Balloon Fest to the interested party.
2. The Tourism Commission said the city should make the Amtrak station a more regular stop/starting point for the Trolley.
3. The Tourism Commission recommends we place the Trolley at Castle Ridge on Friday of Balloon Fest with a Trolley rental sign on it.
4. The Commission wanted the Trolley to be at the following:
i. Halloween Parade
ii. Little Egypt Parade
iii. Monster Crawl
iv. Fall Festival
v. Ask if Vandalia wants it in their parade
vi. Both the city’s Halloween & Christmas light tours.
5. The Tourism Commission recommended to Derek to find sponsors to pay the city’s costs to have the Trolley at various events.
6. Melissa brought up the idea of running the Trolley every weekend until Christmas to view the lights. The rest of the Commission thought that was a good idea as well.
V. POTENTIAL FUNDRAISING PLANS
1. Commission members asked Derek to find how the way to get sponsors for our events like the Christmas light stroll.
