U.S. Rep. Rodney Davis is demanding that the Biden Administration be held accountable for a continuing supply chain crisis.
Davis is one of several House Republicans to recently sign a letter to President Biden urging him to drop what they view as his reckless, multi-trillion dollar tax and spending spree and focus on the crisis at hand.
“It’s ironic that President Biden has called on the private sector to ‘step up’ and address the supply chain crisis when his administration’s own policies punish the private sector,” Davis recently tweeted.
The letter to the president urges that "we must address the global supply chain and ports crisis before Congress even considers additional social spending and taxation legislation. Our priority right now should be strengthening our nation’s economy and increasing our global competitiveness. The policies of your presidency and the party’s leaders in Congress are exacerbating or simply ignoring the underlying supply chain crisis.”
Davis and company argue that missteps include the administration’s mishandling of the pandemic, which they argue has only served to prolong unemployment and worker shortages everywhere in the name of pushing his own agenda.
“These efforts only serve to weaken American competitiveness and shrink our economy, and they will certainly ensure that this Christmas will not be merry. Moreover, despite calls from the private sector for help addressing growing supply chain issues, like expanding capacity, your administration has only further fueled the crisis by increasing energy costs, triggering significant inflation and attacking American businesses.”
In the end, the growing list of GOP lawmakers are calling on Biden and Democrats to halt discussions on their budget reconciliation bill.
Davis is also one of 189 Republican lawmakers to accuse the White House of working behind-the-scenes with social media networks to censor free speech, the Metro East Sun reported.
"The Biden-Harris Administration is secretly censoring speech they deem as ‘misinformation’ in coordination with social media companies on their platforms,” he said in a post on Facebook that is no longer available. "The answer to speech you disagree with should be more speech, not less. As a staunch defender of the First Amendment and free speech, I believe the Administration is attacking every American's fundamental and Constitutional right to free speech with their actions.”
In the letter sent to the White House, the group of Republicans requested “a list of every social media company” the administration is working with to censor content and “a complete list of social media posts and content the Biden-Harris administration has flagged for social media companies to censor.”
Davis has also recently spoken out in the debate over Confederate statues, insisting that he views a vote to remove the monuments from the capitol as a vote for unity, according to the Metro East Sun.
“We’re going to work together today to make sure that we send a message to the American people that it’s Republicans and Democrats standing together,” he said in a video posted to YouTube. “As leaders, we need to come together to show there’s much more that unites us as Americans than divides us. I hope this legislation today, the bipartisanship that we’ll see, is a shining example to the rest of the country that we can do it together.”
