Report: Salem School District spent $8,887 per student in 2019-20

Spending per pupil at Salem School District 111 was up 16.1 percent from five years ago, according to the South Central Reporter analysis of the latest Illinois schools report card district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2019-20 report card showed the Marion County school district spent $7,657 per pupil in 2015-16. It spent $8,887 in 2019-20.

The district's enrollment rose from 1,044 to 1,055 students over the same period.

Salem's spending in 2019-20 was 38.7 percent lower than the state average of $14,492.
