PLEASE NOTE: PUBLIC COMMENT/COMMUNICATIONS CONCERNING PERSONNEL OF THE DISTRICT SHOULD BE MADE IN EXECUTIVE SESSIONS OF THE BOARD.

4. Executive Session

A. The appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the District or legal counsel for the District, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee or against legal counsel for the district to determine its validity. 5 ILCS 120/2(c)(1).

B. Litigation, when an action against, affecting or on behalf of the particular District has been filed and is pending before a court or administrative tribunal, or when the District finds that an action is probable or imminent, in which case the basis for the finding shall be recorded and entered into the closed meeting minutes. 5 ILCS 120/2(c)(11).

D. Consider and approve Sorento School Building Option, to be effective at the completion of the 2021-2022 academic year:

Option 1: Establish District-wide grade level attendance centers, thereby organizing building use around grade levels; or

Option 2: Establish Sorento/Pocahontas as grade level attendance centers, thereby assigning pupils to Sorento and Pocahontas based upon grade levels: K-3 at Sorento and 4-8 at Pocahontas, while keeping Greenville Elementary and Greenville JH the same; or

Option 3: Establish PreK-2 attendance center at both Sorento and Pocahontas, while establishing a grade 3-5 attendance center at Sorento and a grade 6-8 attendance center at Pocahontas, and while also keeping Greenville Elementary and Greenville JH the same.

Option 4: Draw hard boundary lines with no open enrollment or grandfathering drawing “hard” boundary lines based upon Scenario “C” from the 2019

Boundary Analysis Study. Scenario “C” expands the south and eastern borders of Sorento Elementary to the township line(east) and down to HWY 140(south). This would include the area of Old Ripley beginning the 2022- 2023 school year.

Option 5: Leave Sorento building open and authorize Superintendent to continue assign students from Sorento to Pocahontas or vis versa to address class size equity.

Option 6: Approve a resolution to close Sorento Elementary School, 510 S. Main St., Sorento, IL, upon completion of the 2021-2022 academic year, with students currently attending Sorento to be assigned between Pocahontas Elementary and Greenville Elementary based on new boundary lines to be established at a future date.
