Report: Southwestern School District spent $9,573 per student in 2019-20

Spending per pupil at Southwestern Community Unit School District 9 was up 11.5 percent from five years ago, according to the South Central Reporter analysis of the latest Illinois schools report card district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2019-20 report card showed the Macoupin County school district spent $8,583 per pupil in 2015-16. It spent $9,573 in 2019-20.

The district's enrollment fell from 1,512 to 1,360 students over the same period.

Southwestern's spending in 2019-20 was 33.9 percent lower than the state average of $14,492.
