City of Carlinville City Council met Jan. 3.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

PRESENT: Alderman Downey, Alderman Harber, Alderman Koller, Alderman LeVora, Alderman Link, Alderman McClain, Alderman Ober, Alderman Wagstaff, Mayor Sarah Oswald, City Clerk Carla Brockmeier, Police Chief Haley, Brian Zilm Zoning/Economic Dev/Grant Writing Absent: City Treasurer Jody Reichmann, Woodard and Curran Representative Dan Held

Approval of Previous Minutes - Motion was made by Alderman Ober to approve minutes, seconded by Wagstaff, motion passed unanimously.

Approval of Bills - Motion made to approve bills by Alderman Koller, seconded by Link, motion passed unanimously.

Correspondence

Carlinville Queen Pageant – Motion was made to approve Krispy Kreme sales on February 12th by the Carlinville Queen Pageant by Alderman Harber, seconded by LeVora, motion passed unanimously.

Public Comment

Alderman Harber informed the council and committee chairmen that Budget Officer Rick Holmes will be getting spreadsheets ready for budgeting purposes.

Old Business

IARWC Update – Mayor read an update from the IARWC’s last meeting. Dan Held attended meeting as the alternate for Joe Direso, who was unable to attend. Board now consists of seven members, with one additional entity considering membership. Engineering continues moving forward for plant and mains. Purchase of well site and water plant are being evaluated. Easement acquisition continues.

427 South Plum Trees – Owner of 427 S. Plum would like to trim the trees in the boulevard. Aldermen questioned how then would be trimmed. It was decided more information is needed before allowing tree trimming to take place. Tabled for now.

New Business

Proclamation Girl Scout Gold Award – Elsa May Mefford – The mayor presented a proclamation to Elsa May Mefford for her achievement of her Girl Scout Gold Award. She earned the award by building a bridge and a bench at Loveless Park, as well as removal of invasive plant species.

Motion to adjourn was made by Alderman Downey at 6:11 p.m., seconded by Koller motion passed unanimously.
