Analysis: Mount Olive administrators rank 652nd in state for average pay

Administrators in Mount Olive Community Unit School District 5 earn an average of $89,245 per year, ranking 652nd out of 864 districts in Illinois, according to a South Central Reporter analysis of the latest Illinois schools report card.

The 2020 average is 7.7 percent higher than in 2016 and 1 percent lower than in 2011. District administrators make 19.8 percent less than the state average of $111,293.

Administrator salaries depend on the district's size, location and resources, as well as the individual's level of experience and education, according to the Illinois State Board of Education report.

The Mount Olive School District in Macoupin County enrolled 446 students in 2019-2020. There is an average of 89 students for every administrator, compared to a statewide ratio of 171 to 1.
