They will not start until 1:00 pm this year. They have a new Asphalt area for outdoor activities and are working with Ameren for lighting that would be free of charge and hope to encourage outdoor activities for the public. They will also be holding a Basketball Camp and a Track Camp this summer.

• City Report- Juneteenth – The event will be June 18th and we’ll set final plans at our June meeting.

• Harting let the committee know about the recent issues with vandalism at Laura Leake Park. Picnic Tables have been broken and thrown, fixtures have been broken in one of the bathrooms, both bathrooms had been “egged”, the Trash barrels have been dumped and thrown. The City is considering locking bathrooms and a Public Property employee would unlock them on the days that they have been reserved. Harting also explained that this was effective in the past with vandalism at both Laura Leake and Fairview Park. Harting let the committee know that the City was looking into new cameras for the park. Garrett asked when the picnic tables that were vandalized would be replaced. Harting explained, that while that wasn’t her decision, she didn’t see replacing them until the vandalism had stopped. Garrett disagreed and thought you wouldn’t know if the vandalism had stopped if you didn’t put out new. Harting explained that there were still tables there that had not been destroyed. Harting also let them know that additional tables and trash cans would be placed there for the Juneteenth Celebration.

• The Parks & Rec Advisory Committee would support the decision of the City to close bathrooms until the days that the park has been reserved. The motion was made by Graham and seconded by Lawson. All were in favor.

VI. Old Business - None

VII. New Business – Lawson asked when the City would be putting more playground equipment up at Laura Leake Park. Harting noted again, that while there is Vandalism going on right now, it would be best to revisit this when the vandalism has been taken care of.

• Garrett thought they should be replaced and more should be added.

• Agee asked that the City’s Recreation Budget be presented at the Monthly meetings for review. He stated that it had been in the past and didn’t know why it wasn’t now.

VIII. Adjournment - M: Garrett 2nd: Agee
