Macoupin County Public Safety Committee met May 3

Macoupin County Public Safety Committee met May 3.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

I. CALL TO ORDER

PRESENT: Kiel, Acord, Ibberson, Starr, Wiggins, Schmidt, Duncan, Boehler

ABSENT: Dragovich, Payne

II. AGENDA ITEMS

1. Animal Control Staffing

Schmidt said that last month when they had discussed having the Administrator and two full time employees, they had neglected to consider the part time employee. They had discussed with Walden being the back up for the animal control officer going out on calls, but Walden said she would not do that. They were concerned about losing Walden. They discussed the part time employee and if she would be back up for going out on calls and they didn't believe that would be something she would be able to do. They recognized the need for someone to be backup so the Animal Control officer could have days off, but they weren't sure how to structure it or pay for it. After discussion, they hoped to be able to come up with a plan on how many employees to have and what their job descriptions would be at the June meeting so that it could be built in to next year's budget.

2. Contract for Veterinary Service

Kiel said that they needed to get a contract in place for vet services. They had reached out to some vets for pricing but hadn't actually drawn up a contract. Kiel had asked Duncan to find copies of other counties contracts and he had. They would review the contracts and try and come up with one before next month's meeting.
