State Senator Jason Plummer has secured $75,000 to aid in the development of a new "situational awareness room" within the Edwardsville Public Safety Building. This initiative aims to enhance emergency preparedness and response in the city.

“This is about making sure the men and women who protect and serve our community have the resources they need to do their jobs effectively,” said Senator Plummer. “I’m proud we were able to deliver funding for a project that directly supports public safety.”

The recently completed facility was toured by Senator Plummer along with members of the Edwardsville Police and Fire Departments. The room will be used for coordinating responses to major incidents, managing emergency operations, and conducting training exercises.

Equipped with large monitors displaying real-time camera feeds, geographic maps, and other vital information, the room offers flexible seating arrangements suitable for an emergency operations center or classroom-style sessions.

“We greatly appreciate the support of Sen. Plummer, along with the backing of Mayor Art Risavy and the City Council. This kind of concerted commitment helps the members of the Edwardsville Police and Fire Departments serve our community quickly and efficiently,” said Police Chief Michael Fillback. “We are fortunate as a City to be represented by elected officials who prioritize the safety and well-being of our citizens.”

The situational awareness room was completed in May and is now fully operational.
