City of Assumption Water/Wastewater Committee met July 19.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

Meeting called to order at 6:30 p.m. by Alderperson Walden at City Hall.

Water Committee members present were Alderpersons Walden and Burgess. Also present was Mayor Page, Water Supt Jack Duncan, Water Collector Tanya Rhoades and City Clerk Janet Waller.

Alderperson Smith was absent.

Present in the audience was Mark Bingham from Chastain and Associates, Joyce Throneburg, Dan Davis and John Holthaus.

Alderperson Burgess made a motion to approve the minutes of June 27, 2022

Water/Wastewater Committee meeting minutes, seconded by Alderperson Walden. Motion carried with Alderperson Burgess and Walden voting aye and 0 nays.

Under Old Business:

The City continues to wait on the US EPA for the next steps on the new water plant.

Under New Business:

The committee discussed Sloan’s Implement and would like to have a plan to resolve the issue.

Sanitary Sewer Phase 1 will need another walk thru to check for completed items.

Dirt is still needed at 312 W Samuel.

Mark updated the committee on Sanitary Sewer Phase 2 that the slag pile maintenance is not loan eligible.

The loan forgiveness for the water project has been raised to $1.25 million.

The City will need to figure out funding to upsize a 2 inch galvanized 325 feet main between West Samuel and West Ilinois.

The Larochelle Project has a disbursement for Burdick $37,740.00.

The committee discussed whether to repair or wait to fix Larochelle Street.

The water leak on College and Second Street is scheduled for repair on Thursday, July 21, 2022.

The water tower inspections report will be discussed at the next Water Meeting.

A disbursement for Burdick for the Water Plant is $4,617.00.

A culvert issue was discussed on East Illinois. Water Supt will follow up with the homeowner.

The rocks at 126 W Samuel was cleaned up and a suggestion made to fix the problem.

Public Comments:

The public inquired about the best solution for sewer and water for the proposed subdivision.

The meeting adjourned at 7:07 pm.
