City of Assumption Finance Committee met July 25

City of Assumption Finance Committee met July 25.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

The meeting was called to order at 6:33 p.m. at City Hall by Chairman Gary Nelsen.

Roll call was answered by Alderpersons Nelsen, Reed and Sullivan. Also present was Mayor

Page and City Clerk Janet Waller.

Present in the audience was Dan Davis, Tom Dooley and Joyce Throneburg.

Alderperson Reed made a motion to approve the June 29, 2022 Finance Committee meeting minutes, seconded by Alderman Sullivan. Motion carried with Alderperson Nelsen,

Reed and Sullivan voting aye and 0 nays.

Under old business:

Attorney Moredock has received a copy of the contract for demolition of 112 N Locust and demolition should be completed by September 1, 2022

315 N St John and 712 E Illinois will be getting a judicial deed once the proposed order is signed by the Judge.

Under new business:

The cost for engineering for Grow Assumption is $6,600.00. The committee discussed the Grow Assumption Project and agreed to place on the agenda for council.

Officer Zeitler will be starting a new job with Shelby County. The committee would like for him to attend council to thank him.

The approximate cost to do a waterline replacement in house is $25,000.00. This will be paid by the AARP funds.

The committee went over the IDOT packet for Leafland and Rt 51. The City will continue to work to get the intersection changed. Senator Turner came to Assumption on Friday, July 22 and met with the City regarding the changes needed to make the intersection safe.

Mayor Page noted the Street Supt would like to hire a part-time Street employee to help when needed.

Limb pickup was discussed.

Mayor Page would like a resolution or proclamation for Conner and Keegan.

The committee went over the following disbursements:

Water Project Disbursement:

Burdick $4,617.00

Larochelle Project Disbursement:

Burdick $37,740.00

The cost of plaques for the park will be $297.46.

Mayor Page informed the committee there is a college intern needing 150 hours and he would ride with the police. It would be an unpaid position.

Finance Committee meeting was adjourned at 7:25 p.m.
