City of Assumption Water/Wastewater Committee met Aug. 16.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

Meeting called to order at 6:30 p.m. by Alderperson Walden at City Hall.

Water Committee members present were Alderpersons Walden, Smith and Burgess. Also present was Water Supt Jack Duncan and City Clerk Janet Waller.

Mayor Page was absent.

Present in the audience was Mark Bingham from Chastain and Associates.

Alderperson Burgess made a motion to approve the minutes of July 19, 2022 Water/Wastewater Committee meeting minutes, seconded by Alderperson Smith. Motion carried with Alderperson Burgess, Smith and Walden voting aye and 0 nays.

Under Old Business:

The City continues to wait on the US EPA for the next steps on the new water plant. Under New Business:

The committee discussed the heavy rains and the Sanitary Sewer. Water Supt will get a quote from Petersburg Plumbing to disconnect Sloan’s from the Sanitary Sewer.

Sanitary Sewer Phase 1 will need a final walk thru to make sure items have been completed. Sanitary Sewer Phase 2 was submitted to the state and we are waiting on the loan agreement. A disbursement for Burdick Plumbing for the Larochelle Project is $27,586.80.

The Larochelle Project will be working on driveway approaches in the September. The road will also be repaired.

The water tower inspection was discussed. The big water tower was good except it was recommended it needed painted. Minimal rust was found. The little tower was recommended replacement or rehab. It was build in 1913 and has lead paint on the outside. The cost to rehab could be more than the replacement cost of $750,000 or higher.

A disbursement for Burdick for Division B for lead is $39,704.70.

A time extension will be needed for Division A and B for Water. Division A is waiting for equipment for the nitrate vessels.

A change order is needed for non-lead Division B for Burdick for $3,850.00. The committee discussed 126 W Samuel for a possible solution.

A call regarding the GSI retention pond was received. Water Supt will follow up with GSI for a solution to the issue.

The yearly renewal for the GIS system is $700.00. The committee agreed to send to Finance. The yearly renewal for CUSI is $1,700.00. The committee agreed to send to Finance.

A sinkhole will be repaired on East Leafland. IRWA was called to use the camera to look for damage to the system. Burdick will be doing the repair. The cost of the camera is $500.00.
