Kinmundy Public Library Board of Trustees met Oct. 12.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

1. Call to Order

∙ The Kinmundy Public Library Board of Trustees met at 6:30 p.m. Members present were Levi Bridges, Lorraine Day, Erica Fox, Karil Garrett, Crystal Squibb, Jeanette Hoeinghaus, Sue White, Delynn Stanley, and Director Elecia Cooper.

∙ President Garrett called the meeting to order and quickly led the group through the agenda.

2. Approval of Minutes

∙ Elecia clarified Delynn’s position on the Board. She has been appointed by the City Council but won’t technically be a Library Trustee until formal approval is given at the City’s October meeting. Then she can be sworn in at the Library Board’s November meeting. The minutes were approved after motion by Crystal and second by Erica.

3. Treasurer’s Report

∙ Lorraine presented the treasurer’s report itemizing $1,201.68 in bills and $2,255.65 in deposits. for September. The report reconciled with the bank statement at $17,918.48 and was approved after motion by Jeanette and second by Levi.

6. Library Director’s Report

∙ Elecia will be representing Kinmundy Library at the Salem Quilt Show. She will have flowers and jewelry for sale to benefit the library and give out informational leaflets about the library.

∙ Attendance was up for the month of September.

7. Old Business

∙ The Illinois Humanities Grant for the book drop has been approved. Elecia will postpone ordering it until the check is received.

∙ The Review of Standards for Illinois Public Libraries 4.0 is progressing.

∙ The outdoor sign being donated to the library by Kinmundy Elementary School is ready for pick-up. Elecia is in the process of getting quotes for landscaping to go around the sign.

∙ Under the proposed Library Board Bylaws Officers and Elections section, the second sentence will read: “Those officers shall be elected by a ballot vote for two year terms at the regular meeting in the month of June.” This decision allows the City to appoint Board Members in April at the end of the fiscal year. Then the Library has time to prepare for the Annual Meeting in June.

∙ Crystal has the candy for trick or treat night at the Library. She will prepare the treat bags, and Elecia has free books ready. Crystal will install a balloon arch for a photo spot as costumed children enter the Library. The date will be determined by the City Council at their October meeting.

∙ Plans for Family Reading Night on November 17 are progressing. The Sorority is preparing S’more kits for those who attend. Elecia will read the Hungry Hungry

Caterpillar, and Crystal will dress as the hungry caterpillar who becomes the beautiful butterfly. Elecia will prepare a flyer to take to the school to advertise the event. It will also give information about free library cards for students in the South Central School District.

8. New Business

∙ Elecia will represent Kinmundy Public Library at the Illinois Library Association Convention. Delynn will accompany her. Crystal made a motion to supplement the grant Elecia received for the Convention. Elecia is to submit receipts for her expenses, and Delynn is to submit receipts for her meals. At the November meeting, the Board will vote on reimbursement. The motion was approved after second by Jeanette.

Meeting adjourned at 7:30 p.m. The next meeting is scheduled for November 9 at 6:30 p.m. at the library.
