Hillsboro Community School District 3 Board of Education met Jan. 10.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

1) A regular meeting of the Board of Education was called to order by President Matt Lentz, at the Hillsboro Unit Office at 7:00 p.m. The following board members were present: Barbara Adams, John Lentz, Bryce Rupert, Dan Tester, Nathan Kirby and Matt Lentz. Kassie Greenwood was absent.

2) Agenda Item 2.0. Good News Reports

No news to report.

3) Agenda Item 3.0 Consent Agenda

3.1 Approval of Regular Session Minutes from December 13, 2022

President Lentz asked for additions or corrections to the December 13, 2022, Regular Meeting Minutes. There were none.

3.2 Approval of Executive Session Minutes from December 13, 2022

President Lentz asked for additions or corrections to the December 13, 2022, Executive Session

Meeting Minutes. There were none.

3.3 Approval of Building and Grounds Committee Minutes from December 20, 2022 President Lentz asked for questions or comments. There were none.

3.4 Review and Approval of Payables

President Lentz asked for questions or comments. There were none.

3.5 Financial Report

President Lentz asked for questions or comments. There were none.

Consent Agenda Vote.

Motion made by Barb Adams, seconded by Nathan Kirby to approve all items on the consent agenda as presented. On roll call the following voted yes: Barbara Adams, John Lentz, Bryce Rupert, Dan Tester, Nathan Kirby and Matt Lentz. Motion carried 6-0.

4) Agenda Item 4.0 New Business

4.1 Consideration of Approval of HHS All-State Choir Overnight Trip

HHS Principal Heyen stated Choir Director Lemons is requesting approval of an overnight trip January 25-28 to ILMEA All-State Conference in Peoria for ten students.

Motion made by Barbara Adams, seconded by Nathan Kirby to approve the overnight ILMEA All-State Choir trip as presented. On roll call the following voted yes: Barbara Adams, John Lentz, Bryce Rupert, Dan Tester, Nathan Kirby and Matt Lentz. Motion carried 6-0.

4.2 First Reading of Proposed Policy Revisions from PRESS Issue 110

Supt Powell reviewed some of the main changes with the board. Action will be requested at the February board meeting.

5) Agenda Item 5.0 Communication

There was none.

6) Agenda Item 6.0 Recognition of Audience

No cards were submitted.

7) Agenda Item 7.0 Executive Session

Motion made by Barbara Adams and seconded by Nathan Kirby to move into Executive Session at 7:08 p.m. for the purpose of considering the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees. Voice Vote. Motion carried.

Motion by Barbara Adams and seconded by Nathan Kirby to move out of Executive session at 7:16 p.m. Voice Vote. Motion carried.

8) Agenda Item 8.0 Action Items Resulting from Executive Session

8.1 Re-employment of Fall Season Coaches

Motion by Barbara Adams, seconded by Nathan Kirby to approve the re-employment of all fall coaches as presented. On roll call the following voted yes: Barbara Adams, John Lentz, Bryce Rupert, Dan Tester, Nathan Kirby and Matt Lentz. Motion carried 6-0.

9.2 Resignation of National Honor Society Sponsor

Motion by Barbara Adams, seconded by Nathan Kirby to approve the resignation of HHS National Honor Society Sponsor Kristy Andrews. Voice vote. Motion carried 6-0.

9.3 Retirement of Food Service Worker

Motion by Barbara Adams, seconded by Nathan Kirby to approve the retirement of Food Service Worker Carrie Baron. On roll call the following voted yes: Barbara Adams, John Lentz, Bryce Rupert, Dan Tester, Nathan Kirby and Matt Lentz. Motion carried 6-0.

9.4 Employment of Assistant Football Coach

Motion by Barbara Adams, seconded by Nathan Kirby to approve the employment of Assistant Football Coach Ryan Lipe with the salary agreement as presented. On roll call the following voted yes: Barbara Adams, John Lentz, Bryce Rupert, Dan Tester, Nathan Kirby and Matt Lentz. Motion carried 6-0.

10.0) Adjournment.

Motion by Barbara Adams, seconded by Nathan Kirby to adjourn the meeting at 7:17 p.m. Voice vote. Motion carried.
