SEARCH COMMENCES FOR NEXT MORAINE VALLEY PRESIDENT

A national search for Moraine Valley Community College’s sixth president is underway. The Palos Hills-based college is seeking a transformational leader who will keep the college moving forward while maintaining and further developing relationships with students, employees and the community.

The search process includes an application period, which closes March 20, followed by a review of candidates and selection of semifinalists. Semifinalists will be interviewed by the college’s search committee, which includes a cross-section of college stakeholders. Finalists will be named then interviewed by the college’s Board of Trustees, which is directing the search with the support of the Pauly Group—an academic search consulting firm.

Finalists also will engage in open forums with the college community before the chosen candidate is named in late May or early June. Dr. Sylvia Jenkins, Moraine Valley’s sitting president, is retiring effective June 30 after serving 11 years in the role.

“Moraine Valley is thriving, and the next leader will build on the great foundation created by our outgoing president,” said Brian O’Neill, chair of the Board of Trustees. “Candidates must have a high level of visibility and approachability and be committed to preparing students for the workforce or transferring to a four-year institution.”

An overview of the position, duties, responsibilities and qualifications are part of a position profile available on the college’s website. It was developed for the search using feedback provided by the college’s executive leadership team, faculty, staff, administrators, students and supporters.
