City of Carlinville City Council met Feb. 20.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

PRESENT: Alderman Downey, Alderman Harber, Alderman Koller, Alderman LeVora, Alderman Link, Alderman McClain, Alderman Ober, Alderman Wagstaff, Mayor Sarah Oswald, City Clerk Carla Brockmeier, Police Chief Haley, Lieutenant Derek Graham, City Treasurer Jody Reichmann, Woodard and Curran Representative Dan Held

Approval of Previous Minutes - Motion was made by Alderman Ober to approve minutes, seconded by Wagstaff, motion passed unanimously.

Approval of Bills - Motion made to approve bills by Alderman Wagstaff, seconded by Koller, motion passed unanimously.

Correspondence

Direso Correspondence – Joe Direso’s correspondence stated he would like to see the new website be updated more thoroughly. Alderman Ober made a motion to place on file, seconded by McClain, motion passed unanimously.

Public Comment

Alderman Ober cautioned residents to not place furniture on the curb and leaving it. He encouraged residents to have their trash collector pick up.

Alderman Harber stated that he will be working on an overall IT plan with the Chief of Police. Old Business

Approve the Water Supply Contract – Language has been changed in the original 2018 IARWC Water Supply Contract. The language reflects new entities that have been brought into the water company, therefore a new contract needed to be signed. A motion was made by Alderman Harber to approve signing, seconded by McClain, motion passed unanimously.

Approve to Ratify the November Signatures to the Addendum – The 2022 addendum spells out the dollar amount of our percentage of share payments. Signatures needed to be ratified on the addendum. A motion was made by Alderman Harber to ratify, seconded by Link, motion passed unanimously.

Flag Poles City Hall – Approval of the purchase of 3 – 25’ aluminum flagpoles for the front of City Hall for $8,296.41 from The Flag Loft was made after a motion was made by Alderman Link, seconded by Koller, motion passed unanimously.

New Business

Gowin Street Water Line Repair – A leak at meter at a residence at 1010 East Main is in need of repair. Repairs need to take place on Gowin Street, prices follow: Price to run a 4” tap and main extension and 2” connection to existing main ($22,738.49) 1” Service each resident, possibly three ($2,794.21) and add 4” flush hydrant/valve ($5,385.45) was approved after a motion was made by Alderman Link, seconded by Ober, motion passed unanimously.

Tree Removal on Pine Street – There is a large dead tree on Pine Street that a resident has been concerned with falling on her property. It has yet to be determined if the tree is on city property. Further investigation needs to take place. We have received a bid of $2,300.00 from Emmons Tree Service. No action at this time.

Motion to adjourn was made by Alderman Downey at 6:18 p.m., seconded by Koller motion passed unanimously.
