City of Assumption Water/Wastewater Committee met Feb. 21.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

Meeting called to order at 6:30 p.m. by Alderperson Walden at City Hall.

Water Committee members present were Alderpersons Donny Walden, Kandy Smith and Sue Burgess. Also present was Water Supt Jack Duncan, Employee Dana Owens, Water Collector Tanya Rhoades and City Clerk Janet Waller.

Present in the audience was Ron Legner from Chastain and Associates and Felicia King. Absent was Mayor Page and Treasurer Angel Palmer.

Alderperson Burgess made a motion to approve the minutes of January 17, 2023 Water/Wastewater Committee meeting minutes, seconded by Alderperson Smith. Motion carried with Alderperson Burgess, Walden and Smith voting aye and 0 nays.

The drainage pipe under the road at GSI needs to be jetted. The approximate cost to hire a jetter is $2,500.00.

The Water Committee would like the treasurer to check to see if the account is zero for Sanitary Sewer. Also, payment of $62,323.20 approved in November 2022 should have been paid to Petersburg Plumbing for bonds to start Phase 2.

An update on the Leafland Lift Station is awaiting approval on the manholes.

West First Street water has been completed thru the lead project. The owner will need to hire a plumber for the interior work.

The Samuel Street Watermain was discussed. A quote from Burdick to finish the project by capping the 2 inch main and putting in a fire hydrant was $18,750.00. The cost of the City to do it is $12,000.00. There is a 4 hour time period to complete the work. The committee will place on the agenda.

Disbursements:

Div A (non-lead): $22,615.00

Div B2(non-lead): $3,981.94

(The pay request total $7,831.94 because the IEPA had not approved Item 29-1 before but got later approved in CO 6B. The City already paid that amount to Burdick in disbursement 9) Div B1 (lead): $36,444.51

Change Order deducts:

Change order Div A (non-lead): -$42,600.00

Change order Div B2 (non-lead): -$8,978.15

Change order Div B1 (lead): -$41,784.40.

ACTS will be coming to town to install fiberoptic and would like to know if they can buy a hydrant meter or should they use bulk water. It was suggested they sign a contract stating they will pay for all damages if any watermain breaks occur.

A pump at GSI quit and the extra one was replaced. The pump will be taken to Vandalia to be serviced.
