City of Assumption Water/Wastewater Committee met March 21.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

Meeting called to order at 6:30 p.m. by Alderperson Walden at City Hall.

Water Committee members present were Alderpersons Donny Walden, Kandy Smith and Sue Burgess. Also present was Water Supt Jack Duncan, Employee Dana Owens, Water Collector Tanya Rhoades, Treasurer Angel Palmer and City Clerk Janet Waller.

Present in the audience was Ron Legner from Chastain and Associates and Felicia King. Absent was Mayor Page.

Alderperson Burgess made a motion to approve the minutes of February 21, 2023 Water/Wastewater Committee meeting minutes, seconded by Alderperson Smith. Motion carried with Alderperson Burgess, Walden and Smith voting aye and 0 nays.

Under Old Business:

The treasurer continues to work on the Sanitary Sewer account to zero it out.

The Samuel Street Watermain will need to be completed. A quote from Burdick to finish the project, capping the 2 inch main and putting in a fire hydrant was $18,750.00.

Under New Business:

Water Supt discussed an issue with the utilities like fiberoptic coming to town. There is concern the alley’s are already crowded with utilities but resident’s should have options. The committee discussed if the City has any ideas or concerns.

There is no update on the back up pump yet.

Sanitary Sewer Phase 2 Disbursement:

Petersburg Plumbing: $82,507.50

The Leafland pump station should begin construction approximately in the beginning of May.

The watermain and lead service project is advertised to bid. The bid opening will be April 25th at 2:00 pm.

Work continues on the Water Treatment Grant application online.

There is $57,793.54 left from the CBDG fund that was used for the Larochelle Project.

Engineer Ron Legner discussed a contract adjustment for engineering to finish the project for Phase 1 Lead Service. Committee agreed to place on the agenda for council.

New tires are needed on the Water Supt truck. Approximate costs for each tire is $270- $300.00. Committee agreed to place on the agenda for council.

The committee discussed if CTI pays for the Water Supt time when a repair is needed during their installation of fiber optic.
