Mount Olive Community Unit School District 5 Board of Education met April 26.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

The Board of Education met for the special board meeting on April 26, 2023 in the library. The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m. by President Brunnworth. Present at roll call were Brunnworth, Essington, Osmoe, Rimar, and Skertich. Also present were Superintendent Kelly, Secretary Butler, Nikki Garrels, Craig Rimar, and John Hanafin.

Motion by Rimar, seconded by Essington to adopt the agenda, approve the minutes of the regular school board meeting of April 19, 2023, and approve the minutes of the building committee meeting of April 19, 2023. All ayes. Motion carried.

Reorganization of the Board of Education:

Motion by Skertich, seconded by Osmoe to accept Canvass of Election Results from Macoupin County Election Authority Pete Duncan and Montgomery County Election Authority Sandy Leithheiser, proclaiming David Brunnworth, Steve Remer, Craig Rimar, and John Skertich elected to the office of Mt. Olive CUSD No. 5 Board of Education following the Consolidated Election held on April 4, 2023. Roll call: 5 ayes. Motion carried.

The Oath of Office was administered to the new school board member, Craig Rimar by President Brunnworth.

Motion by Skertich, seconded by Rimar for the current school board to adjourn sine die. All ayes. Motion carried.

Motion by Skertich, seconded by Osmoe to elect David Brunnworth President pro tem. 4 ayes, 1 present. Motion carried.

Call to order and roll call of the new school board. Present were Brunnworth, Essington, Osmoe, Rimar, Skertich.

Motion by Skertich, seconded by Osmoe to nominate David Brunnworth as School Board President.

Motion by Skertich, seconded by Rimar to close the elections for School Board President. All ayes. Motion closed.

Motion by Skertich, seconded by Rimar to elect David Brunnworth as School Board President for a two year term. 4 ayes, 1 present. Motion carried.

Motion by Rimar, seconded by Brunnworth to nominate John Skertich as School Board Vice President.

Motion by Rimar, seconded by Essington to close the elections for School Board Vice President. All ayes. Motion closed.

Motion by Essington, seconded by Rimar to elect John Skertich as School Board Vice President for a two year term. 4 ayes, 1 present.

Motion by Skertich, seconded by Osmoe to nominate John Essington as School Board Secretary.

Motion by Rimar, seconded by Skertich to close the elections for School Board Secretary. All ayes. Motion closed.

Motion by Rimar, seconded by Osmoe to elect John Essington as School Board Secretary for a two year term. All ayes. Motion carried.

Motion by Brunnworth, seconded by Rimar to nominate Jeff Osmoe as School Board Treasurer.

Motion by Rimar, seconded by Brunnworth to close the elections for School Board Treasurer. All ayes. Motion closed.

Motion by Rimar, seconded by Skertich to elect Jeff Osmoe as School Board Treasurer for a two year term. All ayes. Motion carried.

Motion by Osmoe, seconded by Essington to adopt Robert’s Rule of Order. All ayes. Motion carried.

New Business:

Motion by Essington, seconded by Osmoe to reaffirm all current district contracts and policies. All ayes. Motion carried.

Motion by Osmoe, seconded by Rimar to enter into closed session at 6:47 p.m. to discuss the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance or dismissal of specific employees of the district, and other stated exceptions to the Open Meetings Act. (2:220, 2:200). Roll call: 5 ayes. Motion carried.

Motion by Skertich, seconded by Rimar to return to open session at 8:52 p.m. Roll call: 5 ayes. Motion carried.

Motion by Skertich, seconded by Rimar to adjourn at 8:52 p.m. All ayes. Motion carried.
