City of Assumption Police Committee met May 9.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

Meeting called to order at 6:30 p.m. by Alderperson Smith.

Police Committee members present were Alderpersons Smith, Nelsen and Walden. Also present were Mayor Page, Chief Wade, Officer Bugg, Treasurer Angel Palmer and City Clerk Janet Waller.

Alderperson Walden made a motion to approve the Police Committee Meeting minutes of April 10, 2023, seconded by Nelsen. Motion carried with Alderpersons Smith, Nelsen and Walden voting aye and 0 nays.

Under Old Business:

The committee discussed updates on Rt 51 and Leafland intersection.

Under New Business:

The committee discussed the school resource officer position. The committee also discussed a possible vehicle and equipment needed for the vehicle and the officer.

Chief Wade informed the committee about the E citation fund for drugs and alcohol.

Chief Wade also discussed about possibly charging tow fees. The City would need to have an ordinance and a set the fee.

The committee adjourned at 6:59 pm.
