City of Assumption Water/Wastewater Committee met May 16.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

Meeting called to order at 6:30 p.m. by Alderperson Walden at City Hall.

Water Committee members present were Alderpersons Donny Walden and Travis Sullivan. Also present was Water Supt Jack Duncan, Water Collector Tanya Rhoades and City Clerk Janet Waller. Alderman Ross Workman arrived at 6:35 pm.

Present in the audience was John Holthaus, Bob Bantner, Ron Legner and Anu Mohanlal from Chastain and Associates and also Mark Bingham from Bingham Professional Service, PLLC.

Absent was Mayor Page.

Alderperson Sullivan made a motion to approve the minutes of April 18, 2023 Water/Wastewater Committee meeting minutes, seconded by Alderperson Walden. Motion carried with Alderperson Sullivan and Walden voting aye and 0 nays.

The lowest quote received to finish the Samuel Street watermain was from Illinois Meter for $7,700.00. The City will need to purchase approximately $3,000.00 in supplies for the project. The committee agreed to send to council.

Engineer Ron Legner suggested the City place on the agenda a change order for the Sanitary Sewer Phase 2 contract extension to October 31, 2024.

Water Supt Jack Duncan reviewed the violation notice from the IEPA and will be working with the IEPA, Chastain’s and Attorney Hedinger to resolve the issue.

The City is looking for a new truck that is a 1 ton, 4x4 and a service bed for the water supt.

Engineer Ron Legner informed the committee that the grant application is getting closer to approval for the water plant.

The Sanitary Sewer Phase 2 lift station will take approximately 6 weeks to complete with road closings. A change order may be needed to extend the project.

Mark Bingham from Bingham Professional Services has been hired by John and Julie Holthaus to develop the drainage for the subdivision. Mark presented a map and explained they would like a west end retention pond, an easement in the agreement for a force main up to the concession stand and will also need a pump station (10 feet deep). The stipulations to be added to the agreement are for 3 tiles to be put in.
