City of Assumption Police Committee met June 13.
Here are the minutes provided by the committee:
Meeting called to order at 6:30 p.m. by Alderperson Smith.
Police Committee members present were Alderpersons Smith, Nelsen and Walden. Also present were Mayor Page, Chief Wade, Officer Bugg and City Clerk Janet Waller.
Alderperson Nelsen made a motion to approve the Police Committee Meeting minutes of May 9, 2023, seconded by Walden. Motion carried with Alderpersons Smith, Nelsen and Walden voting aye and 0 nays.
Under Old Business:
The committee discussed updates on Rt 51 and Leafland intersection.
Under New Business:
A vehicle has been purchased for a school resource officer. Chief Wade will get bids for lights, siren and a Panasonic Toughbook for the squad.
There are 3 applicants to interview for the resource officer. Interviews will possibly be done next week in the evening. Salary will need to be discussed before the interview.
The officers will work on reminding residents to buckle up and stop for stop signs.
The stop light at Old Rt 51 and Leafland was discussed. Mayor Page will talk to the county regarding the issue with the stop light.
First Street from College to Larochelle is closed for the Sanitary Sewer Project.
Chief Wade bought a whiffle ball and bat and will try to get some games in with the kids.
There were 2 arrest for the CAT team for our City.
The committee adjourned at 6:58 pm.
