City of Assumption Water/Wastewater Committee met July 18.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

Meeting called to order at 6:39 p.m. by Alderperson Walden at City Hall.

Water Committee members present were Alderpersons Donny Walden, Travis Sullivan and Ross Workman. Also present was Mayor Derek Page, Water Supt Jack Duncan, Water Collector Tanya Rhoades and City Clerk Janet Waller.

Present in the audience was Ron Legner from Chastain and Associates.

Alderperson Workman made a motion to approve the minutes of June 20, 2023 Water/Wastewater Committee meeting minutes, seconded by Alderperson Sullivan. Motion carried with Alderperson Workman and Sullivan voting aye and 0 nays.

A hydrant might be purchased if there is any funding left from the ARPA Samuel Street. A disbursement for Petersburg Plumbing for Sanitary Sewer Phase 2 is $212,318.33. The Water Supply Loan has contracts back and will need a notice to proceed to be signed. The computer for the Water Collector is scheduled to be installed on July 24, 2023.

Water Supt Jack Duncan will be getting a quote from Atchison Electric for a generator maintenance program to discuss at Finance next week.

CTI should be done within the next month with boring.

A manhole on Leafland may need the casting and lid replaced. Engineer Ron Legner will check the contract on a possible replacement.

The new service truck will be here in September. City will need to purchase a plow package, power tools and a generator for the new truck.

The NPDES permit needs renewed before July 1, 2024 and we need to apply 180 days before it expired. Engineer Ron Legner will start working on the renewal process.

Engineer Ron Legner updated the committee on the Sanitary Sewer Project Phase 2. Petersburg Plumbing has requested a change order due to the amount of rock in the wet wells on Leafland. The depth of the lift station was also adjusted.

The City will need to pay Consolidated Communications $10,000 for the relocation of utilities. Petersburg Plumbing will be hiring a local subcontractor for maintenance of the stockpile. Mayor Page discussed there are some ordinance updates needed for the EPA.

Water bills have been mailed out and will be due August 1, 2023. The next billing will go out August 20, 2023.
