City of Carlinville City Council met Aug. 7.
Here are the minutes provided by the council:
PRESENT: Alderman Downey, Alderman Harber, Alderman LeVora, Alderman Ober, Alderman Wagstaff, Alderman Koller, Alderman Reese, Alderman Link, City Clerk Carla Brockmeier, Mayor Oswald, Chief Derek Graham, City Treasurer Jody Reichmann, Woodard and Curran Representative Dan Held, Budget Officer Linda Boente
Approval of Previous Minutes - Motion was made by Alderman Ober to approve minutes, seconded by LeVora, motion passed unanimously.
Approval of Bills - Motion was made to approve bills by Alderman Harber, seconded by Wagstaff, motion passed unanimously.
Correspondence
Gene Sullivan Correspondence – Motion was made to place Sullivan correspondence on file for closure of the first block of East Main from 10am-10pm on August 12th by Alderman Ober, seconded by Koller, motion passed unanimously.
Public Comment
Lonnie Hyman, Bob Pettit and Dave Burcham of Plum and Northwest Streets complained about a camper that have residents at the end of an alley between Plum and Northwest, which is against city ordinance. Discussion took place, Chief Graham is working on the issue.
Old Business
Ordinance Revising Water and Sewer Rates – Motion was made to pass the ordinance raising water rates 5% per year for the next 5 years by Alderman Link, seconded by Ober, motion passed unanimously.
Bid Opening and Discussion Public Safety Building Roof – a motion was made by Alderman Downey to open bids for the Public Safety Building Roof, seconded by Koller motion passed unanimously. Two bids were open, one from Henson Robinson for $439,534.00 and one from Martin Roofing for $297,323.00. A motion was then made by Alderman Downey to send the bids to the Finance and Public Lands Committee for review, seconded by Harber, motion passed unanimously.
New Business
Dispatch Hire – Chief Graham recommended three (3) candidates for dispatch positions one full time and two part time. Full time position recommendation Gabrielle Pequignot, part time Payton Drew and Kaitlin Moore. A motion was made to approve recommendation by Alderman Ober, seconded by LeVora, motion passed unanimously.
Bee City Chairman and Leadership Team – Carrie Harris and Mary Tinder representing Bee City presented an overview of what Bee City’s goals are for the future. Mary will be stepping down as the Charmain and Carrie will be taking over the position.
Motion to adjourn was made by Alderman Downey at 6:25 p.m., seconded by Koller motion passed unanimously.
