Macoupin County Board Building and Grounds Committee met March 4.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

I. CALL TO ORDER

PRESENT: Starr, Ibberson, Barr, Blank, Heuer, Kilduff, Duncan, Kahl

ABSENT: Trevino

II. AGENDA ITEMS

1. Accept bid for demolition of old clinic building

Starr said there had been 5 bidders for the old clinic demolition. The lower bidder was from Demuzio Excavating at $50,450. The other bids ranged from $63,175 to $114,200. The architect had confirmed the bid with Demuzio Excavating and was recommending it's approval. There was a discussion regarding the hauling away of the brick and the potential cost of it. The bidder would be responsible for it. There was also a discussion about what was going to be used to back fill the area and the way at which it would be completed. It was confirmed that Demuzio would be compacting it so it could possibly be used for parking in the future.

Motion by Ibberson, seconded by Blank to recommend approving the bid from Demuzio Excavating.

RESULT: MOTION TO RECOMMEND [UNANIMOUS] 

MOVER: Jim Ibberson, Vice Chair

SECONDER: John Blank, Member

AYES: Starr, Ibberson, Barr, Blank, Heuer, Kilduff

ABSENT: Trevino

2. Discuss Old Jail Grand Opening towards end of May

Starr wanted to make the committee aware there would be grand opening for the Old Jail on May 22nd at 10:00 am and hope the committee and Board members would be able to attend.

3. Update on Voting Center

Duncan said that the Voting Center is now about 95% complete. Since this committee was the one to recommend the purchase, he wanted to give them an update on the work that had been completed on the building. He passed out an itemized list of the work completed and the costs associated. He also reported that the voters who had utilized it so far all seemed to appreciate the ease of voting there compared to the Courthouse.
