City of Salem City Council met Aug. 5.
Here is the agenda provided by the council:
1) Consent Agenda
a. Approval of minutes of the July 22, 2024 Salem City Council meeting.
2) Presentation of Resolution to recommend temporary closure of certain streets and to contact IDOT for permission to restrict access to portions of certain State controlled highways, to allow the Little Egypt Festival Parade to host their event scheduled for Saturday, October 5, 2024. Recommend adoption of Resolution 2024-05 to permit road closures for the annual parade for the Little Egypt Festival on October 5, 2024.
3) A public hearing was held prior to the August 5 Council meeting to provide interested parties an opportunity to express their views of the proposed federally and state funded project to include new ADA Compliant sidewalks and pedestrian lighting along Main St./US 50 from Pearl St. to Jefferson St.; McMackin St. from Pearl St. to Broadway/IL 37; and Broadway/IL 37 from Alley St. to Church St. Requesting approval of the Resolution 2024-06 in support of the ITEP grant application.
4) The City has requested the assistance of an outside agency to evaluate the condition of several areas of the City Hall building. A service agreement which includes on site inspections, roof core samples, drone fly overs, and assistance with a repair plan. Requesting approval of the service agreement between the City of Salem and Foresight in the amount of $2,730.00.
5) The original TIF agreement between The City of Salem and Kenneth and Carol Bromley, Bromley Excavating had a proposed closing date on the project of March 2023, the actual closing date was June 14, 2024. The amendment will correct the paperwork to show the proper closing date. All other aspects of the agreement will remain the same. Request approval of the Amendment to the TIF Redevelopment Agreement Ordinance No. 2024-32 as outlined in “Exhibit A” to show the closing date as June 14, 2024.
6) Additional bids have been received for the purchase of the Sav A Lot building. The bids are sealed and will be held for opening at the City Council meeting. Request possible action to be taken regarding the proposed sealed bids.
7) A request to purchase the outdoor movie screen and projector equipment has been requested by a local business. Recommend possible approval of surplus of the movie projector and equipment.
