Macoupin County Board Building and Grounds Committee met Sept. 30.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

I. CALL TO ORDER

PRESENT: Starr, Ibberson, Barr, Blank, Kilduff, Trevino, Duncan, Kahl

ABSENT: Heuer

Motion by Blank, seconded by Trevino to seat Kilduff at 5:13 pm.

II. AGENDA ITEMS

1. Presentation from Veregy Energy regarding County Buildings Possible Solar and Lighting Upgrades

Starr said that he, Ibberson, and Armour had met with Veregy regarding potential solar options for some of the county buildings. He had them come tonight to do a presentation on their program. Pete Oswald with Veregy discussed the company and it's local connections. They are an energy services company who could potentially look into getting solar projects on some county buildings along with doing some lighting upgrades for the county. What they were requesting to do was walk through some of the buildings and put together a possible cost study of what it might cost the county, what kind of savings they might see, and give the county and idea of if it was something to move forward on. Kahl said he would meet with them to set up times to walk through the buildings and provide bills for the county's electricity to allow them to study potential savings.

2. Courthouse Roof Safety System Policy

Starr said he had spoken with someone from the Department of Labor about an onsite program they offer. They can help us develop the policy, but if they find any issues, we would be required to fix them. Since these would be similar to OSHA in terms of regulation, it would more than likely find some fixes which would have costs that weren't initially budgeted for. The committee felt it should be pursued.

Motion by Ibberson, seconded by Kilduff to recommend reaching out to the state for an inspection and development of the roof safety system policy.

RESULT: MOTION TO RECOMMEND [UNANIMOUS]

MOVER: Jim Ibberson, Vice Chair

SECONDER: Ryan Kilduff, Member

AYES: Starr, Ibberson, Barr, Blank, Kilduff, Trevino

ABSENT: Heuer
