FOIA Request to City of Bunker Hill Regarding Building Permits on October 30, 2024.
As part of our ongoing commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at South Central Reporter have submitted a request for records under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act. The request, sent on October 30, 2024, specifically asks for a list of all new residential and commercial building permits issued from January 1, 2023 till the present date.
The details requested include the type of permit, date issued, fee paid, requester's name, address and contractor name. Additionally, we have also asked for a list of all active residential and commercial building permits along with their current status.
Access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. As members of the media involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals.
