FOIA Request to City of Pana Regarding Building Permits on October 30, 2024.
South Central Reporter, a media organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, has sent a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the City of Pana. The request was made under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140.
The request seeks detailed information about all new residential and commercial building permits issued from January 1, 2023 till today's date. The requested fields include the type of permit, date issued, fee paid, requester's name, address and contractor name.
In addition to this, we have also asked for a list of all active residential and commercial building permits along with their current status. The same fields as mentioned above are required for these active permits as well.
As a media organization dedicated to transparency in public affairs and holding public institutions accountable, we believe that access to such records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. Given our role in disseminating information to the public, we have also requested a fee waiver as a media professional.
We await the response from the City of Pana and will continue our efforts in providing comprehensive coverage on local governmental affairs.
