Southwestern Community Unit School District 9: How many students met or exceeded expectations in ELA in 2022-23 school year?

In the 2022-23 school year, 47.1% of the students in Southwestern Community Unit School District 9 passed the ELA portion of the Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR), according to the Illinois State Board of Education.

Of the 514 students in Southwestern Community Unit School District 9 who took the ELA portion of the test, approximately 242 (47.1%) passed.

The percentage of Southwestern Community Unit School District 9 students who met or exceeded expectations on the IAR increased by 10.3% compared to the previous school year.

Southwestern Community Unit School District 9 roughly covers five schools within Macoupin County and has a main office in Brighton.

The Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR) assesses the progress of students in grades 3-8 in meeting the Illinois Learning Standards in English language arts and mathematics.

According to the 2024 Illinois Report Card, math proficiency among Illinois students in grades 3-8 remains below pre-pandemic levels, while reading performance has recovered. Meanwhile, 11th graders have experienced significant declines in both subjects, falling below pre-pandemic benchmarks.
