A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Ashley Community Consolidated School District 15 on January 28, 2025. The request, made by the South Central Reporter, a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, seeks access to emails and memos from the past year.
Specifically, the South Central Reporter is interested in any documents that contain the keywords “Lucy Calkins” and “Units of Study”. The request is made under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140. As a media organization, we are involved in gathering and reporting news to the public. Access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.
The South Central Reporter has requested these documents preferably in electronic format and believes it is eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional.
