A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to Nashville Community High School District 99 on January 28, 2025. The request, issued by South Central Reporter, a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, sought access to all emails and memos from the past year containing specific keywords.
The requested records should include any communication that mentions "Lucy Calkins" or "Units of Study." As part of our journalistic duty at South Central Reporter, we believe in holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Access to these public records is crucial for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities.
In addition, as a media organization involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, we have requested a fee waiver for this information. We are hopeful that Nashville Community High School District 99 will comply with this request in accordance with the Illinois Freedom of Information Act.

The average student-to-administrative ratio is 141:1, and the average student-to-teacher ratio is 17:1. Interestingly enough, 58% of teachers in Illinois have a master's degree or higher.
