Officials and Department Heads Present: Pete Duncan

1. Call to Order

1.1 Roll Call

There were 7 members present.

2. Agenda Items

2.1 Update on Property Appraisal

Klausing said they had answered the appraisers questions regarding the business park and would hopefully get an appraisal for next meeting. They wanted the State's Attorney to explain options for selling the property instead of surplus property bids.

2.2 Repeal of Hotel Tax Ordinance

Duncan said that the county had established a hotel tax back in 2003. There have not been any hotels in the unincorporated portions of the county for years so nothing has been collected. By state statute, the funds can only be spent on tourism activities that promote overnight stays which is very limited in terms of Macoupin. The ordinance does not account for things like AirBnB. This issue has been discussed for a few years with no resolution so he was requesting abolishing the tax. The committee requesting discussing it with the State's Attorney and perhaps updating the ordinance to reflect things like AirBnB.
