Aviston Elementary School District 21 Board of Education met June 4.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

1. Call to Order - 6:00 pm

a. Roll Call

a. Members present: Kapp, Arentsen, Voss, Wilson, Jackson

b. Members absent: Holtmann, Strubhart

c. Non-Members present: Superintendent Hamil, Principal Niemeyer, Kara Holtgrave, Megan Langenhorst

2. New Business

a. PreK Playground/Patio Contract Recommendations and Awards

a. Motion by Wilson, second by Jackson to award the contract for the PreK playground and patio construction to Litteken Construction Company for the amount of $117,000.

b. Roll Call: Arentsen, aye; Voss, aye; Wilson, aye; Jackson, aye. Kapp, Abstain. None opposed. Holtmann and Strubhart absent.

b. Student Pickup/Drop-off Procedures - Discussion Only

a. The Board and administration reviewed the current student pickup and drop-off procedures. Safety concerns were prioritized and a plan was developed to implement a parent/guardian vehicle line so students can enter personal vehicles directly from the school building and eliminate crossing the parking lot and avoiding exiting traffic. A final plan will be presented to the Board at the June 18, 2025 regular meeting.

3. Closed Session - Closed session was not entered.

4. Adjournment

a. Motion by Kapp, second by Arentsen to adjourn the June 4, 2025 special meeting at 7:32 pm.

b. All in favor. None opposed. Holtmann and Strubhart absent.
